6th Letter: Really Listening

Dear God,
Listening to you is really hard. First we have to find your voice, which is really hard for us humans because we're usually to lazy to crack open a bible I know I am guilty of this. And second and this is the really hard even harder than the first we have to act on what you're telling us. Normally (even in everyday conversation) we only hear what a person is saying we don't activally participate in the conversation. We want others to do all the hard work so all we have to do is show up. When all we do is the first part of listening which is cracking open the Bible or even a devotional book we're only hearing what you have to say we aren't taking it in us swishing it around a little then spitting it back out for the world to see what we've done with what you've given us. Only when we do that are we listening. I have a hard time of doing any of these things take this blog for example. I am really bad at updating and I don't always know what to say. But I know you've given me a laptop, two hands, two eyes, a brain, and your word. So given all those gifts and many more I am using this blog as a way to share you with others. I am only human so I will never get it 100% right but I will always have your Holy Spirit with me. Also with everything you've done for me sharing you is the least I could do.

                                                                                                              Still Trying,
                                                                                                                      Amelia

5th letter: Soul Surfer

Dear God,
Thank you for Bethany Hamilton. She is such an insperation and shows that no matter what happens we can overcome it with help from you. Her faith and how she shows it is also a great example for us to evangalize (show our faith). I didn't actually know much about her before her movie Soul Surfer. I had heard about her but beyond her being a surfer that had gotten her arm bitten off I didn't know much more.
The movie Soul Surfer is an  amazing movie. To start with they cast AnnaSophia Robb, who is one of my favorite actresses, as Bethany Hamilton. Then they didn't block out all of the faith related thingd like church and prayer which Holleywood is apt to do. Then the shark attack was very well done and you could fell all the emotions running high, also the way they showed her crisis of faith was, at least in my opinion, incredible. And I loved the the ending but I won't spoil it.
Then after reading her autobiography also named Soul Sufer I could see how humble she really is. Her whole goal after the attck was to surf again and she cites God as the one who kept her togeather through it all. She is such a tough person and she won't give up on something she loves which is surfing. Also the way she describes Hawaii and the strong sense of aloha there really makes me want to visit. Last of all I want to try surfing her love of it and the way she
describes God giving her the strength to go back in the water have
stuck that idea in my head.

                                                        Aloha,
                                                            Amelia

4th letter It's Easter!!!

Dear God,
I just want to say thanks for dieing on the cross for us. It is just amazing that on the third day you rose but that is to be expected after all you are God. Also your dieing on the cross shows how much you love us. I love how Easter shows us that we no longer have to be afraid of death because you will always be waiting for us on the otherside.
No matter how much we may like candy and bunnies that is not what Easter is about. Unlike what HOP the movie shows there is no Easter bunny and I'm not saying those things are wrong just that we have to keep it in perspective. And that is done through God's eyes and his heart.
                                                                                               See Ya and Happy Easter,
                                                                                                                     Amelia

3rd letter: It's Good Friday!

Dear God,
Hey it is Good Friday! on this day about 2,011 years ago Jesus died at the cross he gave his life for you. Roman centurions nailed him up on a tree and people laughed at him and made fun of him but still he gave his life for us and asked God to forgive us. And when he died the curatin in the temple was torn and that means we are no longer seperated from God. Then the sky went black as night and he died. So, today at 3:00 p.m. look up at the sky and see if it goes black.

                                                         Love Ya,
                                                               Amelia

2nd letter to God: Pray for Bailey

Dear God,
Yesterday I had to put down my dog Bailey. I have had her since I was three years old. We had gotten her form the pound. She was a tough dog and my family was her last hope. When we got her we only knew that she was two or three years old and that she was a lab-shepered mix, so I gave her my birthday. After that many hijinks ensued. One time my dad was bringing me home from preschool and when he opened the door Bailey ran out. He quickely put me back in my carseat. Then he just followed the sounds of the cars screeching to a halt on the freeway. Eventually we were able to get her back but that has remained one of my dad's favorite stories to tell about her.
We had known that we would have to put her down soon because she had just turned fourteen-years old. She had a gigantic tumor on her left hip and trouble controlling her bladder, so we took her into the vet's. She was so exited to be outside and going to someplace different it made me gald that it was such a beautiful day yesterday. When she tried to get in the back of the truck she fell out because she couldn't jump up high enough. Luckily Dad was able to lift he in the truck. At the vet's we sat outside in the fresh air and Bailey got to walk around and bask in the fresh air. Then the vet camd out and gave Bailey a shot to help her calm down. Then we took her inside and let her fall pretty close to sleep. The vet came in and gave her another shot that was on overdose of a seditive it stoped her heart in about thirty seconds.
After that we left and we're now waiting for her ashes to scatter them in a feild she liked to run in. Now I will ask you to pray for Bailey that she will get to heaven safley beacuse then everyone will just love to pet her. I also ask you to pray for my dad. He picked Bailey out and he trained her for hours it was really hard for him. He isn't always sure he made the right decision please pray for him to know that he did the right thing. And pray for my whole family because losing Bailey is really hard for us.

                                                                                         From Amelia.
